I'm a workout DVD junkie. I love to mix them up and do as many as I possibly can so my body never knows which way is up! I will definitely be adding to this list as time goes by!
Jurbo Jam Maximum Results
LOVE it - love Chalene's high powered approach, really fun, you will look forward to any of her workouts and there's 20 min options but my fav is the full cardio party which burns about 600 calories for me so gotta love that!
Chalean Extreme
Great strength workouts so you can mix it up a little, Chalene rules - easy to fit into your schedule and she's a great motivator and fun person to spent time with every day.
Hip Hop Abs
Surprisingly fun, and feels very well rounded and not boring. Shaun Thompson is easy to follow and fun to spend time with. He gives constant reminders as to good form and maximum results, which I find very helpful.
Turbo Fire
This seems like a step up (harder) than Turbo Jam, so I'm going to hold off on using this DVD until I feel like I've "used up" it's predecessor first and this will be like a graduation move to something a step higher I think. It's Chalene Johnson, so I know I will love it when I get there!
Insanity
This seems like Shaun Thompson's step up from Hip Hop Abs. Sorta like ShaunT's version of Chalene going from Jam to Fire. So I will grow into it, but again - Shaun is extremely easy to follow as he gives constant reminders as to form and technique, so you never feel lost or have to worry if you're doing it right. I find his instruction extremely helpful and look forward to "graduating" to this program at some point.
30 Day Shred
I found this condescending, fake and boring - but I will keep it in my mix because it's not always about fun but I'm not a fan!
Body Combat
Very similar to the kickboxing found in TurboJam, but a little more military style maybe a little more challenging? I will have to do it a few more times to nail down exactly how it's different. It's not as fun as TurboJam though... the people that run the workout are nice enough, but Chalene is pretty hard to top.
P90X
I haven't made up my mind what I think about this yet as it's still a little beyond me, but I'll get to it in a few weeks hopefully
Pilates for Dummies
Really helpful for explaining and using correct form, which is what pilates is all about... I like it
Windsor Pilates 20 Min Workout
Will get to this one after finishing the one for dummies as I don't think it instructs to the same degree
Zumba Fitness Total Body Transformation
Love it - really fun, a super workout with lots of choices, including 20 min
Zumba for Wii
Seems fun so far - not sure it has the continuous flow I like to keep going for maximum burn that the DVD offers, but it makes a fun alternative in the workout mix.
Brazil Butt Lift
This is a really great workout and I can't imagine it not working well on anyone who gives it a try. Great to have in the mix as so many other workouts seem to focus on abs... which is great - but who doesn't want a great butt?
Wii fitness sports and games
I like the cheerleading game, EA Sports Active (you can customize a 20-30 min routine to your taste) Wii Fit and all sorts of simulated sports games to really mix it up and keep it fun.
TIP
Buy everything used - some of these are very expensive but you can always get them cheap on your local trade, sell and swap websites, just google "used YourCityName" or check the local eBay Kijiji or whatever it's called. Also a good source of used equipment. A lot of people like to buy fitness stuff and then don't really want to put in the work, or don't have room for the stuff - so there's always a great selection of used at huge discount for those who is SERIOUS!
Mix it up as much as you possibly can - from what I can tell doing the same thing over and over isn't your best option, so doing the opposite maybe is a great idea - that's my plan anyway.
I see a lot of people do massive 2 hour workouts of the SAME exact boring thing (read elliptical) for years on end... I am not sure such repetitive behavior is even healthy, much less effective. I'd rather just mix it up.
